Jaws of Extinction

Alpha Version 0.4.0a Update Released

0.4.0 Early Access has arrived! Today marks a major milestone in the development of Jaws of Extinction. Alongside going live on the Steam store, this update includes the experimental multiplayer feature and a collection of fixes, improvements and additions to the game.

To everyone who has kept up with development up to this point, we would like to give a heartfelt thank you to those who have given their support. If you are discovering Jaws of Extinction for the first time – a huge welcome!

Experimental Multiplayer:
The experimental multiplayer features allows you and a friend to fight to survive together. The multiplayer element of the game is relatively new and will be developed extensively over the coming months to complete any presently missing features. Our time in Early Access will allow us to complete and polish the multiplayer experience, eventually allowing for up to four-player co-op.

Notable Main Game Updates:
• New and improved tutorials for new players
• Fixed saving and loading issues for various objects
• Improved menus for various interactable objects
• Fixes to allow players to pick up objects that would have been otherwise permanently placed.

Developer Comment:
It would be advisable to start a fresh game as some mechanics, craftables and items may be bugged or not be available if using out of date game save files.

Added
• Experimental multiplayer mode – two player co-op in Survivor mode.
• Added new tutorials for swimming, infected, crafting, disturbances and sickness.
• Added new SFX when tutorials are triggered.
• The 711 building upstairs apartment now has interior furniture.

Updated
• Rebalanced AKM reload sound volume
• Hitch and Trough now use updated radial menu
• Disabled temperamental body physics, which would regularly cause problems, especially in low performance situations.
• On-screen tutorials will now only display if playing from Driftwood starting scenario.
• Updated tutorials display visuals.
• Improved the entrance to Sen’s basement to make it easier to get out of the water when exiting the basement while swimming.
• Can now pick up Hobo Stoves. Stove must be clear before it can be taken.
• Can now pick up Small and Large Storage Containers. Containers need to be empty to be taken.

Fixes
• Fixed a second pair of hands being visible in first-person if reloading and holding [RMB].
• Fixed arrows not appearing in the quiver until nocking the first arrow
• Fixed tethered horses being no longer tethered after loading a saved game.
• Fixed candles not saving and loading.
• Fixed scale issues with candle
• Fixed sleeping in a sleeping bag causing the character to wake up on a permanent slant.
• Fixed Basic Wash Station having a greyed out shower option, but still allowing the character to shower next to the unit.
• Fixed heartshot effects not running when enemies are heartshot.
• Fixed pressing ‘Continue’ on the title screen causing sleeping at beds to not work.
• Fixed loaded weapons which were not in the players hands losing their ammo when the character dies.
• Corrected spelling of “Warrant” on the quest noticeboard
• Fixed camera jitter which happens when using [Alt] to freelook
• Fixed various placeable objects which could not be picked up again
• Compost bins now save
• Tanning racks now save
• Farming plots now save

Known issues & outstanding changes
• Game is missing left-handed support.
• Swapping an item with a Jerry Can in the fuel slot on the quad causes the other item to be placed in the fuel slot.
• When LED light runs out of battery, it unequips but does not re-enable belt chem-light.
• NPCs can have ‘black beams’ coming out of their eyes when running the game using FXAA
