Jaws of Extinction

Alpha Version 0.4.2a Update Released

0.4.1 is live! Our first update since Early Access has arrived. This update tackles many of the initial issues players may have experienced in their first playthrough of Jaws of Extinction.

Additionally, we have started making meaningful changes to the structure of the game in order to bring down the overall size of the project – we know, it’s large right now, but improvements are on the way.

Eden-Nadir has seen various additions, including the re-introduction of an old, but newly refurbished, landmark: Burchett Dam.

On the subject of performance, we have had many reports of varied, and often low, performance that many players have been experiencing since the Early Access release. Improving performance has become a top priority that we are committed to addressing as promptly as we can. We will keep you informed of any updates which we expect to affect performance in future posts.

Developer Comment:
It would be advisable to start a fresh game as some mechanics, craftables and items may be bugged or not be available if using out of date game save files.

Added
• Added two new boathouse locations in new region expansion.
• Burchett Dam location added to the map. Buildings in the surrounding area are explorable and lootable. Additions to area to be made in upcoming updates.
• Bleaksly Airfield has new fortifications: an extra helicopter reinforcement location, extra Hazmat soldiers and towers.
• Added extra Exile quests at Bleaksly Farm and Burchett Dam

Updated
• Project is now distributed into 8Gb .pak files to improve disk read time and reduce the time of installing updates
• Traders selling firearms will now sell normal weapons with a neutral status and common weapons at trusted status.
• Morale is now titled ‘Isolation’, Isolation will now actively affect health regeneration when using consumables to restore health. The higher your Isolation value the slower it will take to heal.
• Nails now cost 25 scrap for 25 nails.
• Items can no longer be moved or stored in player body bags.
• Updated keyboard prompts shown by ‘K’.
• Weapon safes around the world now have a chance of spawning common and uncommon assault rifles with attachments.
• Some varieties of trees are now somewhat larger.
• Sen’s starter backpack can now be repaired with cloth and duct tape.
• Improved Exile animations while strafing with bow.
• James Bell is now considered a black market trader and will trade no matter your integrity.
• Changed the icon on the shower from a bar of soap to the shower icon.

• In-game UI and HUD will now scale for widescreen resolutions and resolution not of a 16:9 scale ratio (like 1680 x 1050).
• Birds nest material update, birds nests now dissolve instead of disappearing instantly
• Lube can now be found in locked tool chests
• Modified the outfit mod section to increase the number of skins that can be displayed.
• Beds, beehives, furniture and a lit campfire will now give a comfort buff like the security buff in safezones and decrease isolation over time

• Fixed issues occuring when continuing a saved game causing the character to have mis-matched body and head.
• Fixed infected having no footstep sounds.
• Fixed battery charger not saving.
• Fixed not being able to pick up fishnets.
• Fixed double tapping ‘F’ to enter a bed puting the player in the sleep animation, but not opening the interface. This allowed the player to move and spin around while laying down.

Known issues & outstanding changes
• Game is missing left-handed support.
• Swapping an item with a Jerry Can in the fuel slot on the quad causes the other item to be placed in the fuel slot.
• When LED light runs out of battery, it unequips but does not re-enable belt chem-light.
• NPCs can have ‘black beams’ coming out of their eyes when running the game using FXAA
